The Sandwell Safe, Secure, Warm and Well campaign helps save pensioners from death by hypothermia during the winter. But it is due to close next month after being denied a £38,000 lottery grant. Its vice-chairman John Cull said today: "It's absolutely galling to be turned down for money and then see this couple get thousands to travel the world. "While they're sunning themselves on some tropical beach, pensioners back here will be dying of cold. It's utter madness and totally sickening."
